Many African institutions have valuable digital collections but they do not have the infrastructure to support 24/7 online access. The ADLC Cooperative addresses this challenge by making their participants’ digital content globally visible through the jointly operated round the clock ADLC hosting environment in the cloud.
ADLC hosting gives institutions several web based access options: side by side with their other electronic services or participating in Open Access and have their documents – like research output – harvested from the ADLC platform as jump off point.
ADLC is a flexible solution that works with other services, it offers:
- linking to ADLC via a customizable web addresses; for example kemri.adlc.info or buse.adlc.info.; the look and feel remains under your own institution’s control.
- linking from an institution’s own web site directly to the institution’s ADLC-hosted collection(s); the look and feel remains under your own institution’s control.
- integration of ADLC as a component in an institution’s own IT infrastructure.
